This Funzi Island day tour takes you on fiber boat tour through mangroves. You have a chance of spotting crocodiles in one of the last ecologically intact paradise on earth.
You will depart from your beach resort at around 0730 hrs in the morning and drive to Bodo village…south of the hotel.

Upon arrival at Funzi island, you will get to sail up the river on a motorized canoe. On either side of the river, you can see a stretch of the mangrove forest. The river abounds with exceptional bird life and, a chance to spot crocodiles as they bask in the sun by the river bank. It is important to note that the water in Ramisi river is not clear (due to the mangrove), and is therefore, not suitable for snorkeling. However, Funzi lagoon is amazing and the trip is calm and relaxing. A stop on the sandbank ensures that you’re at the most beautiful spot on the coast for swimming and making the most of this little piece of paradise (don’t forget your sunscreen, towel and beach sandals). After the boat trip, seafood delicacies accompanied by Swahili dishes is served which is mostly a sample of seafood specialties: crab, grilled fish, coconut rice, and non-seafood menus we offer chicken or beef. Vegetarian dishes are also catered for on request. A short walk around Funzi Island will then follow before taking the boat and cross over to the mainland where our driver will be on standby to drive you back to the hotel.

• Bring along your towels, sun cream, hats, sunglasses , drinking water in glass bottles, swimming costume, water shoes.
• Rarely but it happens in certain seasons that there could be jelly fish. Think of some protecting creams.
• The island restaurant offers Swahili cultural food as well as sea food (rice, potatoes made of coconut sauce, chapatis, cfish and crabs mainly).
• Vegetarian option is available but you need to request in advance
• Alcohol is not served on the island but you can bring your bottle.
• Plastic bottles are not permitted due to environmental concerns.

• Depending on the tide the tour can begin from either side
